Environment Awareness-Cum-Tree-Plantation Project

The Bridge conducted two such programs, the first being, on the occasion of the 58th Independence Day. An Environment Awareness-cum-Tree-Plantation Program was conducted from August 11th to 15th, 2005, in Gopamau, Ramzankuin, Gajadharpur, Arba villages of Dist. Hardoi. In this program over 145 children (both girls and boys), over 45 senior residents of

villages, both women and men, participated in the program. In fact over 275 trees were planted in front of schools, homes and roadsides. The five day program comprised lectures about awareness and importance of environment preservation, environment related quiz competition and tree plantation.

The Pradhan and the Members of Gram Panchayat (comprising above villages) alongwith Headmaster/ Teachers of Govt. Primary Schools of referred villages, participated in the program with keen involvement and interest.

During the program, saplings of Mango, Katehal, Amrood, Seasam, Neem and Peepal were planted in compound of schools, homes and roadsides.

To leave an imprint in the minds of school girls & boys about necessity of environment preservation, tree protection and tree plantation, many children were awarded prizes for participating in the Quiz.

The second Environmental Awareness-cum-Tree Plantation Programme was organized on the occasion of 57th Republic Day, from January 25 to 27, 2006 in Village Sainti, Block Tandiyawan, Dist. Hardoi, UP.

Over 110 children (both girls and boys), over 25 senior residents of villages, both women and men, participated in the program, during which over 150 trees and decorative plants were planted in front of the village school, homes and alongside the village pond. The three day program comprised lectures about awareness and importance of environment preservation, environment related quiz competition and tree plantation. The Pradhan alongwith Headmaster/Teachers of Govt. Primary School of village Sainti, participated in the program with keen involvement and interest.

Once again, to leave an imprint in the minds of school girls & boys about necessity of environment preservation, tree protection and tree plantation, many children were awarded prizes for participating in the Quiz.

A unique feature of both the programs was that each tree planted was named after the person who planted the same. Yet another highlight was, that girls and women were in the forefront and more enthusiastic to make the program a success.
