District Hardoi was once famous for good quality Groundnut cultivation which now has substantially reduced due to various reasons. The Bridge, under its “Rural Economic Enhancement Programme” (REEP) had organized an extensive Demonstration Project for Groundnut & Pulses Cultivation, from May 10 to 30, 2005, in Dhobia, Pihani, Gopamau, Gajadharpur, Sainti, Tandiayavan, Beniganj, Dist. Hardoi, primarily to motivate farmers to undertake cultivation of Groundnut for better economic returns compared to other crops.

Our motivational project resulted in over 40 farmers taking up cultivation of Groundnut resulting in an increase in cultivation of Groundnut by about 20-35 acres, in 2005 compared to last year. The awareness-cum-motivational program is continuing and it is expected and many more farmers of the area will opt for groundnut cultivation, which will enable them to increase their earnings.
