On the occasion of launch of landmark National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NERGA) by Hon’ble Prime Minister, on February 2, 2006, The Bridge, carried out an extensive interactive Awareness Program for NREGA in Baragaon, Zaidpur, Masauli (Barabanki) and Sainti, Bilgram, Sandi, Bawan, Gajadharpur (Hardoi). The Bridge has since been creating awareness about the scheme, distributing leaflets with important features of the scheme to the villagers, informing them various aspects of the scheme, how to get registered etc. including their rights under the scheme as well assisting the villagers in submission of applications, registrations and follow-up etc.

It is a matter of great sense of satisfaction for the entire team of the Bridge, that participation and response has been excellent and a large number of villagers, eligible for the scheme, have been able to apply for issuance of Job Cards under NREGA, with active assistance and support of the Bridge.

During this continuing awareness campaign, extensive awareness about the Right To Information Act is also being created and citizens are being informed about their rights under the act and substantial benefits under the same. The interactive program has assisted substantially a large number of residents of Baragaon, Zaidpur, Masauli (Barabanki) and Sainti, Bilgram, Sandi, Bawan, Gajadharpur (Hardoi) in applying for registration/issuance of Job Cards . We understand that a very large number of people have been registered successfully under NERGA. The team of The Bridge extended all help and guidance including assistance in filling up of forms and submission of the same to the relevant authorities.
